Length:25-27 cm, Wing Span:69-81 cm

Description: A boldly-patterned, long-legged, brown, black, and white lapwing.
Adult: Black cap, throat and belly contrasting with white face and neck. Body shows uniformly-colored black and brown areas. Black flight feathers and tail visible in flight.
Juvenile: Pale edges on feathers of upperparts.
Behavior: Often sits with hunched posture. Easily disturbed and can be very vocal.
Habitat: Sparsely vegetated shores, shallow wetlands, irrigated fields.
Food: Invertebrates.
