Description: |
Squarish head, thin black bill, pale lores, and long pale legs. Wings project beyond tail at rest; in flight shows narrow white wing stripe. |
Adult (Breeding): |
Male has white supercilium, broad reddish breast band with thin black border below. Female and non-breeding males are much duller with faint reddish tinge on breast band. |
Adult (Non-breeding): |
Males are much duller with faint reddish tinge on breast band. |
Juvenile: |
Pale feather edges on upperparts create scaly appearance; grayish breast band. |
Similar Species: |
Differs from Greater Sand Plover by broader white supercilium, whitish lores, narrow white wing stripe, and wings that project beyond the tail at rest. |

Often found far from water. |
