Length:22-24 cm, Wing Span:57-59 cm

Description: Stout with an upcurved bill.
Adult (Breeding): Pale brownish-gray above, white below, blackish scapular lines, white trailing edge to wing, and yellow legs.
Adult (Non-breeding): Paler but retains dark scapular lines on back.
Similar Species: Differs from other sandpipers by combination of small size, upcurved bill, short yellow legs, and white trailing edge to wing.
Behavior: Feeds along water line, often running. Bobs tail constantly.
Habitat: Mudflats, lake shores.
Food: Invertebrates.
