Resident Status: Casual
Length:52-67 cm, Wing Span:135-155 cm

Adult: Blackish mantle and wings. In flight shows a single small white patch on outermost primary. Yellow legs. Bill is long and yellow with a red spot.
First Winter: Black bill, pink legs. In flight, shows whitish rump, mostly dark tail, and uniformly dark greater coverts and flight feathers.
Similar Species: Adult is the only black-backed, yellow-legged gull in Armenia. Juvenile differs from other gulls by uniform dark upperwing.
Behavior: Often associates with other large gulls. Flight is buoyant and agile.
Habitat: Lakes, reservoirs.
Food: Invertebrates, fish, carrion.
