Resident Status:	Year-round resident
Abundance:	Uncommon
Length:	18 cm, Wing Span:30-32.5 cm

Adult:	Brown-gray with brown-red streaks on flanks, white tips on black wing coverts and tail, and bright yellow base of bill. Throat barred black and white.
Juvenile:	Duller and browner; yellowish tips on wings and tail.
Similar Species:	Differs from Dunnock by larger size and red-brown flank streaks.
Behavior:	Often feeds at edge of snow patches. Preens and sunbathes on top of rocks.
Habitat:	Rocky alpine area; lower in winter.
Food:	Invertebrates.
Nest:	Cup in crevices of rock or under shrub.
Eggs:	23 mm, 3-4, pale blue.
