Adult (Breeding): | Male is black or dark brown above with bold white wing panel and small white spot at base of primaries (often not visible), two small white forehead spots; white underparts. Female is brown above with a slightly paler rump, variable small white wing patch; off-white below. |
Adult (Non-breeding): | Both sexes similar to breeding female. |
Similar Species: | Semi-collared and Collared Flycatchers. |
Behavior: | Moves from perch to perch after flying insects; often feeds high in canopy. |
Habitat: | Forests, wooded river gorges, orchards, scrub. |
Food: | Insects. |
