Description: |
Gray body with slight pinkish tint. Black head, throat, wings, and tail; powerful bill. |
Juvenile: |
Similar to adult but gray areas have brown tint; mottled upperparts. |
Behavior: |
Breeds solitarily. Outside breeding season, often forms large roosts at night, especially in urban areas. |
Habitat: |
Widespread, often associated with towns and villages in rural areas; avoids mountain tops and dense forest. |
Food: |
Invertebrates, seeds, small vertebrates, carrion. |
Nest: |
Large cup of sticks and twigs lined with finer material in fork high in tree, on building, or electrical pylon. |
Eggs: |
43 mm, 3-6, pale blue, dark green blotches and lines. |
